Tourist 101...

Local Fun...

let's say you have out of town company coming in for 4 days and
they've visited you a couple times before and this time they want
to do something different...go somewhere different... and you
being the workaholic that you are - don't get out much in the
normal course of your day to day, week to week life...
and it's actually been months since you even looked to see
what was going on in your area... any new restaurants, clubs
or bars etc... and then... then you realize you are a unfamiliar
with your own town...

you've got 10 days before your visitors arrive... you've got the
internet... and you can pick up one of those freebie newspapers
at the grocery that often times have some local ads...

what you need to do - is a quick crash course in "Tourist 101"
- imagine you have just arrived in the city and you know
nothing about the city and have 4 days to discover it
all - what would you then do ??

one good suggestion might be to go to the local (higher end)
hotel and they always have a tourist literature section on what's
nearby to see and do...

and talk to the hotel's concierge...

read your newspaper...

call your local Stadium, and Convention Center etc... even if
they may not have any events scheduled during your out of
town guests stay dates - you can still tell them your
predicament - that you have out-of-town company coming
and you want to show them around - and need suggestions...
as the person on the other end of the phone what 3 places
would you take an out of town guest to - if you were in my
shoes... and then you could always call some of the Limo
Services or Cab Companies - they know what's going on
in a city...

keep your eye's open to the commercials on TV...

I saw a new commercial for a local Bar - looked like fun I
might just check it out..

and I LOVE the name of the place - here's a hint why
