Gary Erickson - part 2

WHO is "he" ??
Gary Erickson the CEO and founder of Clif Bar & Co.

WHAT is Clif Bar & Co.
(formerly known as Clif Bar Inc.) ??
Clif Bar is the name of the first product Gary
developed back in 1992. A tasty nutrition bar
named after his father Clifford.

Remember when you'd open a nutrition bar and
they'd be so chalky and tasteless ?? Same thing
happened to Gary and he was so convinced he could
do a better job at making a nutrition bar that
actually tasted GOOD... that urged him on through
the two year process of developing the Clif Bar
back in the early 90's... Gary turned that dream
into a $100 million dollar company ... but that
isn't the reason I am interested in having him
on my "Meet & Hug List"... it goes deeper than
that... looking at the TYPE person that Gary is...
his core values and concerns... that's what earns
him a spot on my list...

here's just a few of the ways Gary qualifies in
my eyes:

1. social and environmental factors...

2. his involvement in recycling...

3. how he treats his employees - how it is important
to him to have a happy and enthusiastic workforce
- and the benefits he makes available them - such
as allowing six-month sabbaticals to pursue other
interests... and a flexible work week, free fitness
classes and gym access... and dependent care assistance...

4. his commitment to giving back to the community by
minimizing environmental impacts - example: He actually
hired someone to REDUCE environmental waste...

5. he encourages employees to volunteer for community
efforts of environmental waste projects...
his "2080" program is a prime example...
(if I lived near the company - they sound like one that
I would even consider finding a spot there suited for
me...)
